Head Coach-5th Season
Coach Regan spent 2 years as assistant coach at NIACC before taking over the head coaching position. He had success as a player in England and Canada, before concentrating on coaching. With his knowledge of the game, he has added much to NIACC's soccer programme in recent years
His record over the last four seasons is 57-14-5. This record includes 224 goals scored, 62 conceded, with 37 shutouts. He guided the Trojans to their first ever regional play offs in 2008 where they reached the final. They have qualified for the play offs every year since including another final appearance in 2010. He was named Regional Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2008.
Under Coach Regan the NIACC soccer program has become nationally ranked, reaching a high of #8 during the 2010 season.
He has used his international connections to good effect, recruiting from England, Ireland, Holland, Denmark and Croatia as well as recruiting quality players from within Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota in particular.
NIACC has provided 4 All Americans in the last 4 years with an additional 31 players receiving regional honours. Players regularly attract interest from NCAA Div 1 & 2 colleges who see the NIACC soccer programme as producing top quality players. During Coach Regan's tenure, players have transferred to Penn State University, Eastern Illinois University, University of Buffalo, University of Las Vegas Nevada (all NCAA Div 1)), Lynn University, Lander University, Fort Lewis College, Midwestern State University (all NCAA Div 2), Briar Cliff University, Morningside College, Jamestown College, Warner University, Webber International University and Bluefield College (all NAIA)
Coach Regan began coaching whilst he was a teenage student in his hometown of Yateley, England when he was a youth team player with English professional club, Wycombe Wanderers. He went on to play semi professionally for Staines Town and Fleet Town, amongst others. In 2005 and 2006 he captained Ottawa Fury in the USL Premier Development League (PDL).
Coach Regan is a graduate of NIACC and went on to attend Waldorf College, from where he graduated in April 2009 with a BA in Sports Management. He graduated from the California University of Pennsylvania with his Masters in Sports Management in 2011. He also holds a USSF National C license.
Mike, wife Maradee and son Kieran live in Mason City.
