Jonathon Platt
Assistant Coach-3rd Season
A native of Bolton, England Coach Platt has been involved in soccer for many years and coached in England, New Zealand and the USA. Following a playing career that took him from the youth teams of Horwich RMI (now Leigh RMI) to Pukekohe AFC in New Zealand, he began focusing on coaching 10 years ago. Starting in high school soccer, he then went on to coach alongside Manchester United development coaches at the Fletcher Moss Soccer School, famed for shaping the career of current United player, Wes Brown.
Following this, he was the head coach at Olympico Manchester, a refugee team set up to encourage integration among recent immigrants in the Manchester community. This team included a number of high quality players from across Africa and Iraq. Platt then moved on to be the head coach of Failsworth Dynamos, helping them achieve back to back promotions to the Lancashire Amateur League Premier division.
Platt joined the successful Trojan program for the 2009 season working on training and player development. Alongside his tactical and analytical skills, Platt also has a no nonsense approach to the game having grown up playing youth soccer in Northern England. He is fiercely competitive and isn't satisfied unless players are fully committed especially in training sessions. For the 2011 season, Platt's third with the program, his aim will be for the Trojans to retain a national ranking and then ultimately be successful at the national tournament.
